Writing in Japanese and working with Hedi Slimane has been a Mind-Blowing experience!
I just saw the VOGUE HOMMES Japan spread on Jerkin and it is awesome! The people over at VOGUE kindly sent me a few copies. I wouldn’t consider myself a magazine connoisseur, so when I opened the box to see dinner mat sized magazines with a guy who looks like an Arnold Schwarzenegger “Terminator” look alike with a tremendous amount of swag covered in Japanese letters, it blew me away and captivated my attention.
As I fumbled through the pages, I became more intrigued by the Japanese language, which reached a climax when I opened the page where my article appeared. This was the first time I had ever seen something I had written translated into another language. Hedi Slimane’s photography throughout the magazine is breathtaking and I feel honored to have worked with him on the spread featuring Jerkin.
The magazine spread and the experience of working with Hedi Slimane reminds me of a quote I read somewhere, “life isn’t about how many breathes you take, it is about how many things you experience that take your breath away”.
