Exclusive Interview with Indonesia's 1st Jerk Crew


Indonesia is the latest nation to join The Jerk Movement. Din Neno Naneno of "Jerkin of Medan" tells us about his Crew and how quickly they are able to learn dance steps.

Shariff:
How old are you and where do you live?


Din Neno Naneno: im 22 years old and i from Indonesia


Shariff: How did you first hear about Jerkin?

Din: from my friend who goes to USA and she is introduced to my jerkin, and I also see on youtube.


Shariff:
Are the "New Boyz" being played on your local radio stations?


Din:
not in my country.




Shariff:
What is the name of your Crew? Who are the members? How did you come together as a Crew?



Din: My crew is called Jerkin of Medan (Indonesia), consisting vatrick, Ryan, edo, kenken, coressy .. we all got together every weekend.

Shariff:
Did you wear Skinny Jeanz before you started Jerkin?


Din: yes.


Shariff:
When did you make your first Jerk video?


Din: 17 August 2009.


Shariff:
What was the most difficult dance step to learn? How long did it take to learn it?


Din:
nothing is difficult for me and for my every move I could learn in a few short days.



Shariff:
Who is your favorite Jerk artist and why?


Din: UCLA, because their movements exceptional for me.

Shariff: What is your favorite Jerk song?

Din: addicted to Jerkin.

How big is Jerkin in your neighborhood? Who was the first person you saw Jerkin in your neighborhood and how did they find out about it?


Din: I and the crew of the first in my country.

What do your friends say when they see you Jerkin?


Din: His first they laughed but after that they like too.

Have you ever been to the United States?


Din: never .. but some of my crew had been there.

  1. Indonesia is very vibrant. It also has a HUUUUUGE streetpunk scene. I'd like to go there and make a documentary with Indo-Punks. It's interesting how it's a 100% Muslim nation with such vibrant scenes, but the whole world ignores Indonesia.
